Instead of continuing north on Grand Central Pkwy to LGA he instead went off the highway and took Astoria BLVD across and then north on some other street. He went on I-495 and basically went past LGA and went north on Grand Central Parkway instead of going up the I-278.

I just took the shuttle today from Grand Central to LGA and the bus driver took the longest route. It used to run every 30 mins and now it’s once on the hour only between 11-7pm.
It has been taken over by a new company and although it’s cheap, is no longer and efficient way to travel to-from the airport. I have been using NYC Airporter since 2014 as I travel to NYC several times a year. It's much cheaper and there are plenty of people around who will be willing to help you out if you need it. If you're cost conscious, then I recommend taking the M20 bus to the E line instead. If you're a regular, don't need the instructions, and like a more upscale service, then this is a great option. I would recommend this service to a newcomer to NYC, only if the instructions were clear and accurate, which they were not. I barely made it onto the bus before its top of the hour departure. When I got there, it was only by accident that I noticed the check-in desk. I ended up waiting at the wrong place for quite some time before another shuttle driver told me that I needed to go down one level.

They led me to the wrong place, plus they never indicated that I needed to check in to receive a boarding pass. The instructions provided on the ticket were incorrect. However as this was my first time using the bus, I found it very stressful and difficult to find where to board the bus. I have no complaints about the comfort, speed, or drop-off points.
